    Cool.

I'm sure the Outlaw 950 will be a major factor in the pricing of the P-958.

Nice to see you can lable the inputs.

    You know what I love?

    The choice.

Something I thought I would never see - a variety of affordable surround processors. Lovely.

There was a thread where the Sherwood guy guesstimated price, but I can't remember if it was here or at AVS. I also can't remember how much it was, but it was less than $2K.

    ok, found it
    "Rich, Jeff, et al:
Thanks for the kind words. We build world class products and we do try to provide service at that same level.
As to the pre-pro. This link will lead to our official mention. http://www.sherwoodusa.com/2002prod...products.html#1
    Click on the Newcastle P-958.
It is slated for introduction at the CEDIA Expo at the end of September. It will use the chassis of the AVP-9080 with features and performance upgraded from the R-963 by adding fully adjustable DPL II and Dolby Headphone. SRP should not exceed $1500. "

But will Sherwood's new pre/pro have the same problems with bass management that S&V noted in the latest issue (May) with their R-963 receiver?
Inquiring minds want to know! [IMG]
(And hopefully they fix the Dolby Digital noise issue too...)

Guys: As Will said, this is not gonna be available till Sept at the earliest. As for the rest, this is old news and the link to the CES press issue has been around since then. Unless Jeff has more to add, we just gotta wait on any more info on this unit... Unless, of course, Jeff has something to add? [IMG]

It would sure be a good decision to post more info...He might be able to persuade people from dropping cash on the Outlaw right now. Of course, if the Sherwood doesn't compare favorably (featurewise or performancewise) he may not want to post. [IMG]

    The 950 doesn't have a headphone output.

Thanks. Does the 950 have fully adjustable (not sure what this is exactly) DPL II?

What is the reasoning behind NOT having a headphone output on a Pre/Pro? The 950 will be my first Pre/Pro and I was curious why they chose not to have one. Most receivers seem to have one. Is this normal for Pre/Pros?

    Will,

Outlaw 950 DPL-II is adjustable and I think fully. It has adjustments for Panorama, Dimension and Center Width. It works pretty well and I like to use it for watching TV.

Who knows, the sherwood may hit the streets before the Outlaw for those of us near the bottom of the list. [IMG]
