i am setting up theatre for first time in a new home. My builder gave me some speaker hooks but I am not sure how I can use all that.

size of our media room is 15x13.

I am putting 100 inch screen on 15 inch wall. This mean viewing distance is abt 12 inch from screen to sofa/viewer.

Already got dennon Denon AVR-X1700H 7.2ch from costco. I am not sure which speaker should I buy for an AVERAGE system. Builder gave us 4 holes in ceiling for speakers with wiring.

Is there any setup where I can place 2-3 speakers in front (L, R, Center or sub) and 4 in ceiling. Nothing on back wall.

Any entry level klipsch system for me?

Yes, you could easily designate the rearmost ceiling speakers as the rear surrounds, and the other two as Atmos speakers.

I’m pretty sure Klipsch has a web site. Might check there. :)

I would not use ceiling speakers for your floor layer speakers and especially not mix going from the front 3 on the floor to back surrounds in the ceiling. When the sound moves around the room it will sound off and if you have rear surround and atmos in the ceiling it in my opinion will be ever worse. You want sounds on what they refer to as the bed layer to be able to pan from front to back or even corner to corner and the atmos needs to be separate and be the only sounds coming from above does not matter if it is Atmos, DTS X or Auro 3D. And ideally if your going with Klipsch left, right and center I seriously would not go with a Yamaha but stick with the same brand and type of speaker so the sound remains consistent because different speakers have different sound.

This comment is not clear to me. I get it - instead of yamaha ceiling get Klipsch. (Makes sense)

I dont understand your first point.
- Are you telling me 4 ceiling speaker ( 2 atmos and 2 rear sorround is not a good setup?) if that is what you are saying what is the preferred setup? Assuming I dont want to put anything in back wall, shall I go with 3 front plus sub plus 2 ceiling atmos.

Correct having two surround speakers in the ceiling and two atmos speakers in the ceiling is going to give you very bad imaging / surround effects. So when something moves from the front speakers to the rear and the speakers are in the ceiling it will go from infront of you to above your head not behind you where the sound should be. The not only that you will have sound that should be overhead mixed with sound that should be directly behind you instead the sound will be coming from above.

Ideally you want the tweeter and midrange about ear level in your seated position. This is going to give you the illusion of sound actually moving from front to back, corner to corner or even moving 360 degrees around the room.

Bellow you have a disconnect where what should be behind you is coming from above because that is where the speaker is. So you actually get the effect of something going from infront of you and as it moves to the surround speaker it is more like it is taking off into the sky not coming from behind. Your now also now have your Atmos speaker that is trying to creat hight but also is competing with your surround. You have sound from above that should be there with surround from above that should not be there. You might get away with surround only with no Atmos channel but it still does not work out that great. It is also why having your left, right and center up in the ceiling does not work good ether especially since the center which should lock dialog to the screen is coming down from above.

I hope this helps

You can always put your rear speakers on stands if you really do not want to mount them to your wall. But the surrounds if you your running a 5.1 system should ether be off to the sides or directly behind you. It is just a really bad idea to have both Atmos and surrounds up on the ceiling together.

Just take away the SBL & SBR for 5.1 and nothing says the subwoofers need to be along the front wall because rooms are different sizes and to get the best bass at your seating area might mean moving the subwoofer or subwoofers.

Also if it is a matter of not wanting to see speakers hanging on the wall behind you or off to the side consider inwall speakers where many of them allow you to paint the grill to match the color of the wall.

Example of what I did to have the speakers around hear height and not attached to the wall. I am currently working on getting my Atmos speakers where they should be as in this photo the position is not that great.
