I'm ready to wire a new room in my house for HT (the room is currently down to the studs) and needed a little help.

The room is small - 12x13 and the ceiling is pitched going from 6' to 8'.
The seating will be about a foot off the back wall with the TV off the front.

I'm looking for the best, most compact, cost-effective speaker solution.

Surrounds: in wall, or mount?

I'd also love some specific speaker suggestions. Thanks.

Hi drew - what is your speaker budget including receiver, speaker cabling and subwoofer? What is your breakdown between Home Theatre and CD use (e.g. 70/30)? Are you considering bookshelfs or towers for your fronts? For a small room with only a foot off the back wall I would recommend a 5.1 setup over 7.1.

Yes, this is a secondary HT (I have another setup in a larger room).

I want this to be a nice, but not too nice place to relax in a more cozy setting.

I know everyone dislikes HTIBs, so I'm thinking separates. The speakers themselves need to be small.

Fronts will have to be bookcase style
Rears need to be small and can either be side inwall or stand (ceiling is only 6' there)

Definately only 5.1

Budget, under $1000 (the lower the better)
