I want this as much as anyone, but it's going to take more than 500 people to get WB to change their mind. How much would it cost to remaster and license music for 14 years of hour-long shows?

Very true and the petition isn't very realistic - seasons 3-14 all re-mastered and music and clearance issues resolved for 12 seasons by December of this year? A much more realistic request would be to have the next 2-3 seasons cleared, re-mastered and released by December. Sales will then determine if Warner continues from there.

Warner already has the sales numbers for the season 1 and 2 dvd sets of Knots Landing.

A petition with less than the sales numbers of seasons 1 and 2, will tell them all there is to know.

Wow....lots of nay-sayers on here......Well, for one, nothing is impossible. The petition is more, if anything, to let WB know there is still an interest in the show. As of right now there are 367 signers on the petition......up by 105 signers from 2 days ago when I posted it here and on the two "Knots Landing" facebook fan pages. I remember similar nay-sayers posting this about the 1966 Batman, WKRP In Cincinnati, Wonder Years, China Beach, Barnaby Jones, Cannon and even The Carol Burnett Show. All of these shows eventually got released on DVD cause people were "squeaky wheels" about it. And if you read the petition, it also stated to WB to offer the rights to another company like Shout Factory, if they feel it something they don't want to do. WB has always stated they would like to release the rest of the show.....it was partly to do with the sales of the 1st and 2nd season (which were "Knots Landings" lower rated seasons....other seasons, specifically 4-6 were "Knots Landings" higher rated seasons and would do better in sales, imo).....and WB knows there is a great fan base to this show......It's really the music rights issue that is halting the show (and specifically the Journey songs that Lisa Hartman sang on the show). All the petition is indicating to WB is there is still a fan base that is very much interested in the show to be released on DVD or streaming (Blu-ray is an option too, but knowing the track record for older shows to be on Blu-Ray is pretty much nulled). That's the bottom line.

Hopefully it will be Shout Factory or maybe Kino, and not a bottom feeder movie company like Mill Creek, etc ...

One would think this might be the case. Hopefully whoever releases it, will be smarter about it this time around.

One just has to see what happened in the recent past with the dvd season sets of the "extremely popular" seasons of other nighttime soaps, such as the original Dallas and Dynasty. Apparently these sets have been dump bin fodder for many years already (ie. the seasons 2 to 5 dvd sets of Dynasty, and the seasons 1/2 to 9 dvd season sets of the original Dallas). They probably overestimated the demand for these sets, and possibly manufactured too many copies back in mid-late 2000s.

And music clearance is a very time consuming and sometimes expensive process which is why I mentioned expecting 12 seasons to be cleared and re-mastered by December was not realistic. I was not trying to be negative just mentioning that for a petition to be taken serious by the studio the requests should be reasonable and feasible. If Warner continues the series it will most likely be through the Archive one season at a time.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about a new petition to get "Knots Landing" complete series released on DVD. Immediately afterward, I am happy to report about 140 individuals signed the petition (the total number went from 262 to now 390 signers). However, in order for the petition to get release to Warner Brothers, they need 500 signatures. 110 more people need to sign. So, if you haven't signed, please do. See link below......let's push Warner Brothers to get this done!!! And thank you to all who already did sign!!!

LOL. Stop wasting your time. It's NEVER going to happen. The best you can hope for is some streaming service or one of the nostalgia diginets picking it up. There simply aren't enough people who want to buy this thing on DVD.

Well another naysayer....I guess you should tell the 464 people who signed the petition. Anything is possible. To say "NEVER" going to happen is just your opinion. Remember people were saying shows like "China Beach" and "The Wonder Years" were NEVER going to happen too. Though your entitled to your opinion.....you don't have to rain on other people's parade.
