A few months ago, I expressed an interest to the users here of purchasing a notebook. Well, the day finally came where I was afforded the opportunity to get one. I'm attending college again and through the university I was able to get a very good deal on it so I couldn't pass it up.

Now, this is my first personal laptop. Also, it's my first experience with WinXP. I've been using 98SE and Win2K up until now. I was wondering if there were any tips or hints that you guys and gals could offer up as advice.

Change the horrible graphics back to the way windows 2000 looked. Make sure system restore isn't eating all of your hard drive space. Other than that, it's fairly pleasant.

Better yet, skin it with StyleXP (I'm using the Dynamine skin).

    Get Y'z Dock.

Do Black Viper's services config, and his other XP tweaks as well.

Other basic things, like setting a static swap-file size, running BootVis, etc.

I just got my laptop about a month ago, for school as well. Fun getting a new toy, isn't it?
