New Line used to make nearly every new title a Platinum Series release and lately it seems like they've stopped. They're still a great studio and their DVDs still rock but I'm just curious since About Schmidt or some of their newer titles should get the Platinum Series banner. I think they may have stopped for the same reason why Fox stopped th 5 star collection line. Just curious if anyone can shed some light on this.

I believe that they dropped the Platinum Series in favor of Infinifilm. Basically, not much of a change except in name.

A friend of mine at New Line just told me that "Willard" is going to be a Platinum release even though it pretty much bombed at the box-office. So maybe that line isn't dead after all. I'll have to double-check with him...

I'm betting the LOTR Extended Editions will be Platinum.

I mean it's not like their DVDs are going to be affected in quality but just wondering. LOTR:EE was the last one besides Blade 2, The Mack, and Jason X. That's great news about Willard (2003) being one sometime; that movie was actually really good. The Infinifilm line is great too so I hope that doesn't change anytime soon but I doubt it will.

Platinum Series is still going, but Infinifilm is supposed to take you 'Beyond the movie'. The reason why the releases are so few and far between is because New Line just doesn't have more titles to release. I still prefer the Platinum Series line too...
