I found this new variation of the SACD logo on an enclosed insert from Sony/Philips.

I haven't seen it on any SACD or on any SACD packaging though.

They should switch to something far more intresting than that. I suggest an elonginated Z about like Zorro's mark.;)

I don't get it.

It's the same logo and font. The "Hybrid" graphic is just tacked on to indicate the type of SACD it is (which I think I saw a while back).

How about DualSACD combined with DualDisc to totally confuse consumers:b It's nice that they're trying to say it will play on a CD player but maybe they should stop making single layer discs and not worry about hybrid. The more stuff on the case, the more confused consumers will be. My personal vote is to use the Double Mint twins. :emoji_thumbsup:

Actually, the hybrid SACD logo I posted above reminded me of the Compact Disc w/ Text logo....

Anyone still releasing single-layer SACDs nowadays?

Sony should not even bother releasing separate CDs and SA-CDs. Since the technology is there to make one hybrid disc, that's all they should make. It won't confuse consumers, because there will only be one disc. Plus it will help get market penetration, since people will have SA-CDs in their collections when they are ready to buy a new DVD or CD player.

I agree Tom but there are two things holding this up: (1) rights issues with artists involving how to calculate the amount of royalty (these seem to have this worked out on a case by case basis but not for all releases) and (2) economics. Hybrid discs are slightly more expensive to make than Red Book CD.
