I just bought a Yamaha home theater system and a separate Oppo blu-ray player. Connecting the two components along with my cable box is easy since all i need to connect them all is HDMI cables. The trick is i want to add a VCR to my system also. How would i connect a VCR to a system that includes a AV receiver, blu-ray player and cable box? What cables do i need?

The cables you need depends on if the AVR has HDMI upconversion.

What Yamaha is it?

It's the Yamaha YHT-797 system.

I hope your TV has a composite(that would be yellow) input.

Yes it does.

I would just connect it to the TV, then connect (audio) the TV to the Yamaha.
