Alright, I'm new to the forum but I keep getting told to post some of my questions. I'm Tim S. I live in Texas and use the system mostly for movies and sometimes for music. :)

This is my current set up.
Room: 20x14, One large window, 2 doors and a pass thru.
TV : Phillips Magnavox 60" Rear Projection (older with bulbs going out)
Dvd Player : XBox
Suround: 5.1 Altec Lansing computer speakers (Rears at room sides)
Front Speakers: Barrard Bookshelfs+ TV Speakers
Sides: JBL computer speakers
Rear Speakers: Barrard Bookshelfs
Subwoofers: Altec Lansing behind TV + JBL Computer Sub back of the room

I have a JBL Center channel coming in the mail soon and I bought a Harman Kardon Subwoofer that isn't working. What I think I need is to get a reciever #1. I also would like to know if there is something simple I can fix on the subwoofer to make it work. (The speaker makes no noise at all and shows no sign of being plugged in.)

I went to Best Buy and heard the Martin Logans. Can the sound imaging be duplicated if there are enough speakers around the room?

Thank you very much. I know I'll have to upgrade to some real quality equipment one day, but for now I'm trying to make it work.

Tim, you have a lot of random stuff thrown together. That just doesn't work. The best thing to do is start from scratch rather than try to patch things. Also, no, adding more speakers will not give imaging like Martin Logans provide. Martin Logans won't even provide good imaging if they aren't positioned properly. To get that kind of imaging you need either bipolar, planar speakers like the M/L, Magnepans, or a point source speaker like Thiel. In all cases, you can't just throw them in a room and expect them to image well. You have to arrange the room around them.
