Will upgrade to one of the following HD Plasma TV's (ASAP);
Panosonic TH-50PZ800U ($1800)
Pioneer PDP-5020FD ($2500)
Samsung PN-58A650 ($2600)

All good 1080p with good reviews from all sites, but what is your opinion??

I would avoid the Samsung, especially of you will be using it to watch and SD material. IMO the scalers on the Panny and Pioneer are much better. If the money was no issue, I'd go with the Pioneer, a close second would be the Panny.

With the Pioneer, isn't the color accuracy an issue? What is IMO? Does the Panasonic have a flicker problem?

I'm no expert, but in reading about Plasmas recently, I've heard that the Pioneer Kuro has excellent out of the box color accuracy.

One review notes this about the PDP-6020's Movie setting

Since my first post I've determined I need a 58" based on distance 12-15" away. Now down to Samsung 58a650 or Panasonic 58pz800. Both run about $2700 each, any feedback.

I've been told that all internet sites that sell a product are not authorized dealers! What are some good (authorized dealer) sites to compare prices and warranties.

Just check their site carefully. There's OneCall, Crutchfiled, BH, J&R, 6Ave, etc. One dictum to lean on always is...If the prices are too good to be true, they probably are!
