This IMO is the best album on the year. I can't remember an album in recent times that has so many good tracks to it. Most albums now adays has only 1 or 2 songs and the rest is filler. I like every track on it.

It is a great album.. of the year? no, not really...

but it is a good album.. much more 'rock' than 'pop-punk' like their last album was (not their 'best of' album, before that...)

Yes, American Idiot is possibily the best album of the year. Warning was an ambitious and excellent pop-rock album, and this is the perfect way to follow it up. Very recommended.

I just read on CNN.com that Green Day wants to turn the lyrics of the album into a movie!

If it wasn't for SMiLE American Idiot would be my favorite album of the year thus far.
I don't think you'll see anything like this actually win a Grammy though.

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams is going to be the next single from American Idiot. I really think this song will be a GIGANTIC hit. Not quite as big as Good Riddance was, but it will be close. However, I think that "Wake Me Up When September Ends" has the potential to become as big as "Good Riddance".

Did anyone here get the special edition of American Idiot that comes with the hardcover book? I didn't get it, but I was just wondering what was in that book.

I've played the heck out of the album since I got it last week and I cant stop listening to it. To me this is the best album I've heard this year. With the exception of some moments in the song "Homecoming", the whole album is fantastic.

I've been listening to it solid for the last 3 or 4 days...wow. Great album. I really agree with those who say it's consistently good. There aren't any low-points on the entire album. Fantastic stuff. :emoji_thumbsup:

Got this last week, but was not able to give it a run through until yesterday. Man, these guys know how to play in the groove.

No mistaking it for anyone but Green Day, which is a good thing. I did here echo's of other bands, notably Mott the Hoople (a descending guitar figure that borrows from the chorus from All the Young Dudes), Sabbath (the main riff from Children of the Grave), and a track that could be from U2. I was listening through headphones and was not watching the iPod, so I can't say which track was which.

Havings aid that, these are all well melded into the songs structure, unlike certain flavor of the month bands that rip off their elders and sell it to a new audience as though it were something new.

Sonics with decent headphones were not too bad either (I ripp as 320K AAC, so thats not too much of a loss from uncompressed files), although things do seem a bit congested at times, but reasonably dynamic at other times.
