I didn't see anything come up after searching the archives so here goes...
The Digital Bits is reporting that several new live-action Disney titles are coming on January 14th.

I'd settle for non-anamorphic as long as they're OAR (unlikely given the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids fiasco).

If they're OAR there's 2 sales for Disney. Non-OAR, I'll be buying zero.

If they're part of the "Vault Disney" line, they'll probably be OAR. If not, then who knows (probably not even Disney if you asked them). [IMG]

FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR isn't exactly part of the '60s/'70s Vault Disney era. Still, once they add SON OF FLUBBER I'll be satisfied. [IMG]

After Disney's previous DVD P&S releases of BLACKBEARD'S GHOST and BABES IN TOYLAND [IMG] , I expect nothing worth purchasing from this new batch. Bad picture, P&S, and NO extras; NO thanks.
I expect these DVD's to have less on them than the cast of OH, CALCUTTA!

Babes in Toyland was NOT P&S! It was intended for any ratio between 1.33:1-1.85:1...and any of those ratios are the proper one.

Well, it's common knowledge that Disney's flat films of the era worked well in both ratios. And even if that's not true for this title, it's still merely open-matte. I swear that every print I have seen of this movie (and other Disney films of the era) was not cropped in any way...

Very dissapointed in this list of titles. Absent Minded professor is fine but the others? All of us Disney fans love Hayley Milly and all of her Disney films showed up on laser except one- Summer Magic - where is it?
Where is Darby O Gill, Sword and the Rose, Story of Robin Hood (recently resotred by Scott Maqueen), Treasure Island also restored by Scott, third Man on the Mountain, IN Search of the Castaways and so many others?

Open matte is easier to watch than cropped, but it is still not OAR. My litmus test is basically if the director and DP would choose 1.33:1 over 1.66:1 or 1.85:1 for any future theatrical showings, then I will gladly take a full frame DVD. Short of that, 1.33:1 is not OAR and the compositions are compromised by removing the mattes.

    Regards,

Yes, they're all slated to be 4:3 and barebones. Absent-Minded Professor WILL be black & white, though.

I'll get The Computer Who Wore Tennis Shoes, The Strongest Man in the World, Now You See Him Now You Don't, and The World's Greatest Athlete if they are OAR.

Interesting list of titles, but no "Witch Mountain" titles yet. [IMG]
