BIONIC WOMAN set for a TV rebuild
USA Network prepping return of 1970s series
------------------------------------------------------------
Dateline: Friday, August 16, 2002

It looks like Jamie Sommers will be making a return to popular culture long before Steve Austin.
That’s right, when it comes to the remaking appetite of Hollywood, THE BIONIC WOMAN seems to have more value than THE SIX-MILLION DOLLAR MAN. The USA Network is currently developing a new version of the 1970s action hour, which had Sommers -- using her cyborg body -- fighting crime with superhuman strength.
Not much more is known beyond that, other than Team Todd, one of the production houses behind the AUSTIN POWERS series as well as MEMENTO, are developing the show for USA.

Remember when Sandra Bulloch played the new Bionic Woman in a NBC movie of the week (along with the new $6 miilion man, Steve's son)?

Actually there are a ton of original tv shows, but a lot of older shows are so popular and gaining a new audience why not bring them back?

I mean Monk and Dead Zone are on USA and they are two excellent tv shows.

That was years ago. They couldn't afford Bulloch these days.
I wouldn't be so quick to rule anything out in the regard of Sandra Bulloch as a possible. The same thing might have been thought of about Martin Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland a few years ago. Now, it's kind of the in thing to do, especially if it's well written with a good viewership.

Martin Sheen and Keifer Sutherland hadn't made a high-grossing film in many years and accepts roles on high-profile shows on major networks. Sandra BULLOCK is still a bankable film star. MISS CONGENIALITY did quite well at the box office. I don't see her on USA anytime soon. :D

And both "24" and "The West Wing" are big-budget, prestige projects with some major/respected names behind them (Brian Grazer, Aaron Sorkin, John Wells). This, on the other hand, is a direct-to-cable update of "The Bionic Woman".
