I was at Costco today and saw an 8 DVD set of:

    Best of:
    Chris Farley
    Dana Carvey
    Steve Martin
    Mike Myers
    Adam Sandler
    Chris Rock
    The Bad Boys of SNL

    and

    The Best of Eddie Murphy

Is this an exclusive to the set? and that Bad Boys one, its not easy to find, but it only has skits that are on all the other DVDs in the set.

What is up with the l-o-n-g wait with the SNL disks? Where's the best of John Belushi, Phil Hartman, Tim Meadows, Gilda Radner, Molly Shannon, Bill Murray, David Spade, Norm MacDonald, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Rob Schneider, etc.. etc.... I would love to see a best of Lorne Michaels too with his skit where he offers the Beatles $3,000 to come on the show and mabye a skit of Lorne and Tom in a tub. I would also like to see some more Best of DVDs featuring some of their more popular guests like John Goodman, Alec Baldwin, Paul Simon, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken and all the members of the 5 time host club.

    Mark,

I talked with the company a few years back about
the SNL discs. I believe it was NBC who decided to
pull out of the releases. A shame as I really loved
    those discs.

The only hope we may have is TIME/LIFE video.

They released a VHS collection of SATURDAY NIGHT
LIVE according to year. It's a really great
collection. Perhaps they will do the same for DVD.

    What's this all about?
Lions Gate will also release the five-disc Saturday Night Live: 25th Anniversary Collection on July 15th.

Are these (finally) new best of sets?? I hope this isn't just a repackaging of the ones already available. I would love for them to release the best of Tim Meadows, Phil Hartman, John Belushi, Dan Akyrody, David Spade, Molly Shannon, Cheri Oteri, Christopher Walker (not a cast member, but neither was Steve Martin), Will Ferrill, Gilda Radner, etc.. etc...

Forget that version of Best of eddie. They dubbed over "Eye of the Tiger" with a generic drum solo in the "Mr Robinson's Neighborhood" sketch. "Eye" actually sets up a punch-line. Say no to DVDs like this one that has no warning of music removal.

Wouldn't SNL be a rights nightmare for season sets? They'd probably have a bigger music problem than anyone.

The 25th Anniversary 5-pack is a musical set. It contains musical sketches and performances, including Lorne offering the Beatles the cheque (Mark). In Canada it will only be available as a pack, but it's my understanding that the single disks will be available in the US.
