I just found out through a good friend that the carrier USS Harry S. Truman is being used for scenes for Bruce Willis' film "Tears of the Sun." A couple of years ago, I thought I read that this was supposed to be the new Die Hard movie, but from the description I heard, I don't think so. Willis supposedly is the leader of a SEAL team conducting operations in Nigeria. A video story about the filming should be on the Navy's video news magazine sometime in the future.

It was supposed to be the 4th Die Hard movie. I am not quite sure what went wrong but my best guess would be that they didn't have the necessary money to bring BW on board the project or that he simply didn't like the plot enough.
So is this new movie called Tears of the Sun or Hostile Rescue?

The video crew that went on board the Truman was told the film is indeed called "Tears of the Sun."

That is indeed kind of strange since i haven't seen that title mentioned since the DH 4 rumors some years ago. I don't think he is working on anything else than Hostile Rescue at the moment. Although i suppose that movie has already been filmed and is now already in post-production. It is due to be released in January 2003.
Does anyone else here know anything about this matter?

    Veli,
The video crew just returned from the Truman on July 28. I even had an opportunity to glance at their job followup report. The Navy story is being put together over the next couple of weeks. The film Willis is shooting is called "Tears of the Sun," but it is NOT a Die Hard movie.
A photo and some info about Willis and crew going to the Truman can be found here. http://www.chinfo.navy.mil/navpalib/images/in-news.html

Just saw this on the Hollywood Reporter web site. All becomes clearer. Veli was right about the film formerly being called "Man of War."
