Having a new family room built and want to do flat panel tv with surround sound and 2 outside speakers on the deck. Pretty basic setup I believe. I wanted to do the Klipsch CS-700 but I don't think that I can have 2 extra speakers on that system. So,in order to do the deck speakers what do I need in a reciever and what models are out there for around $500.

You would need a receiver with Zone Two capability. This will allow you to watch a movie indoors and listen to a cd (or some other source) outside at the same time. Most receivers around $500 can do this. Look here to see what's available.

I highly recommend the Pioneer Elite VHX-01. Can be found in the low $500s... 7.1, so you can run 5.1 in one room, then stereo to a second zone. Now, whether or not it can play two different things to both zones at the same time, i have no idea.
