I picked it up last week and have been listening to it a lot. Basically an anti-war commentary consisting of covers of well known protest songs. I picked it up specifically for the cover of Imagine, which while rather brooding, is still a very cool tribute. I was only disappointed by one track, the cover of Depeche Mode's People are People. I got the chance to see them earlier this year and I have to say I was very impressed with their show. I had heard that Tool puts on a great show, and after seeing APC I believe it and I may have to try to get out to see them the next time they are in town.

Kind of disappointed they didn't release the DVD and DVD-A on the same day, because I would have bought that instead...most likely I will still pick it up anyway :)

Haven't heard the latest APC, but did see Tool a couple of years ago here in Birmingham. They do put on a fantastic show, and would be worth the price of admission if they ever come close to where you are. When I saw them, it was pouring rain and they were playing at an amphitheater.....I saw many people just stripping down and rocking out semi to completely naked. Not that I was one of them, of course.

I picked it up on the weekend but haven’t had much of a chance to listen to it. From what I’ve heard so far it seems a lot more mellow than the other two Perfect Circle albums. Not sure how the whole anti-war thing will sit with me, personally I’m just not a big fan of listening to 50mins or so of anti-war and political messages from musicians.

Not really an album exactly, more of a statement I suppose. The first track really gets the point out there in an eerie tone "It's your choice: peace or annihilation" I didn't read the liner notes yet, but the cover art is kind of interesting. I like most of the songs, though the overall tone is definitely more mellow than the other albums. I like some of the originals, and some I don't. I actually found the cover of Devo's Freedom of Choice quite obscure. Maynard made a number of comments about his feelings regarding the government at the show, so this album's theme doesn't surprise me. Of the shows I saw this year, it was one of the best.

I've listened to it a couple of times, and don't like it too much. Not horrible, just not as good as the other two APC albums.

Doesn't sound much like an APC album to me, which is ok because I like it when bands branch out, experiment and make the music they want to make.

But I don't care for the album at all. I'll stick with the first two, and everything Tool has ever made.

It certainly is a mixed bag. I actually like the cover of "What's Going On". The highlight for me was "Fiddle and the Drum". The lowlight is that downright awful cover of "People Are People".

My favorite track is When the Levee Breaks. A wonderful re-imaginging of the classic Zep tune with a killer mellow groove.

The rest is a mixed bag, but I don't regret getting it.

I love the first two APC releases. I'd rate this below them, but still enjoyable. I liked it a lot more on the second listen. I was hoping for some heavier stuff on this record to do its content, but it's quite mellow.

I'd pick it up but I refuse to buy a "cd" from EMI Canada due to their copy protection.

That really sucks about the copy protection.

I like 13th but I'm still partial to Mer de Noms, and of course Tool.

I would not worry about the copy protection in Canada. I feel the same way but the protection does not work. At least on the "CDs" that I have bought (including the new APC). Hold down when you insert the disc and copy away. And do not feel bad about it because you have paid for the disc and it is legal to make copies for yourself, in Canada anyway.

It's easy to crack, but its the principle of the matter. As long as you don't install "the player" it will rip fine.

I agree, it annoys me every time I buy one. I sit there and debate, in my head, if I should buy it or not. Some people do not give a crap and think I am nuts for caring. I do not understand how the record companies feel it is right to piss off paying customers. Like any serious pirate cannot get through anything they develop. Makes no sense to me at all.

APC (along w/tool) is one of my favorite bands. I borrowed Emotive from a co-worker and aside from Imagine and Passive, I thought this album was horrible. Billy Howerdell did alot of the vocals and I believe that was detrimental to the sound. Maynard shouldn't be singing back up on any project.

I bought the album and I like the album. With that being said, I only listened to it for about a week before it lost its place in my CD rotation...which was NOT the case with either of the first two albums. Those two went months before relinquishing their spots...so you draw your own conclusions from that.

I'm excited for the DVD, but I havent head anything about a Hi-rez album. I thought aMOTIVe was sopposed to be the dvd & a bonus cd of remix's (which Ive heard a few of already & IMO the remix of "Blue" by James Iha is really good)

It's very much mood music - brooding and pensive. That being said, it fits my mood lately so I'm listening to it alot.

I agree that Imagine and Passive (formerly a Tapeworm song called Vacant) are the best tracks. Since it's basically all covers, I don't think it's fair to compare it to the previous 2 APC albums. It's a statement, and some people don't care for the statement, so that will likely taint the music.
