I need a new direct view TV in the above size. It has been several years since I actively sought a new TV. It will be used for the main screen in a new, small home theater room.

I need to keep costs at less than 1500 for the unit and would also like your thoughts on a less expensive (say $600-800)unit.

I realize I am on the border as far as HDTV goes, but really have decided to wait 3-4 years until we build a new home before going to a true big screen HDTV.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

well at that price range i seriously doubt you cna get a 40" the only 40" direct view set i knwo of is the XBR, that is no where near 1500. if you want HDTV i think your best bet is to see what kind of a deal you can get on a Toshiba 36hfx71 but that might be askign too much as well, you could probably sswing a 32" toshiba HDTV
