what model do you have and how do you like it? in the market for one to buy this weekend
I don't remember the model offhand, but it cost about $140 at Christmas there... But I love it - very portable, very reliable, very good sound/usage of it. I'm not a fan of the Sony software, but I can live with it. I get a couple of hours of music to each minidisk, and it's fairly fast to build a new one. I'm a fan.
I have the Sony MZ-N505 and like it a lot. I only use it for duping CDs and find there to be no audible drop in sound quality through headphones when using the LP2 compression scheme. A single AA battery seems to truly power the player for 50hrs.
thanks for the replies. anyone know what ATRAC will do to, say , a variable bit rate mp3? does it "dumb" it down? or will it stay variable?
I also own the 505 and I am really quite impressed by the sound quality of the LP2 compression. Sorry I can't answer the question about MP3s, as I don't care for them and only use the unit to record CDs...
that's how most of mine are encoded also. good to hear, thanks.
They are fantastic for making bootleg concert recordings.
well i'm not real interested in that but thanks!
