    Friends:

I want to drive only 5 channels of surround (center, two front, two rear) but I see that most good A/V receivers have outputs for 7 speakers (i.e., they add left and right surround). If I just hook up the 5 channels I am interested in, will I be OK?

Any other thoughts would be appreciated (keep it simple, please).

    Thanks,

    George

all those receivers will do 5.1 and 6.1 just as well, too. your exact setup gets "taken care of" when you set everything up in the receiver's setup.

Yep, you just tell the menus you're not using the extra channels, and it will handle the rest.

Thanks very much guys. Some of these matters are so elemental to those "in the know" that they just aren't discussed in the product descriptions and those of us just coming on board can get lost.

    Thank you again. [IMG] [IMG]
