I saw her on Letterman. I was intrigued and have her on the mental notes.

I finally picked this up. Didn't realize it was a double CD! I've only listened to the first disc, but I like it.

She's actually doing an opening gig up north from me. Can't make it as it's a work night, but it'd be cool to see her in person.

I've heard her (thanks to the guy that started this thread...hey, Mike) and overall, I really like her stuff. I love her "genre hopping" and many of her lyrics are very clever. She's kinda hot, too![IMG] I wish I could make it to Austin, Texas this week. She's playing a showcase as a part of the South by Southwest Music Festival.

A couple notable things for this being her first release:

The contents of both CDs could easily fit on one disc, meaning she got the powers to yield to the notion of a cohesive album or song cycle.

Apparently money ran out on the production and she persuaded the producer to work for free for the rest of it (according to an article in Entertainment Weekly).

I also listened to her interview on NPR. She definitely seems like one of those kids in high school who were so far beyond everyone else that they never fit in.

I just found some samples on the net (and her site NellieMckay.net), they're really good! The ones on her site, DAVID and Innerpeace were neat, then i found Sari, where its more rap, WOW, she's talented... [IMG] Hope to find her album round here when it goes on sale [IMG]

What a totally off the wall album. She doesn't fit in any particular category. That'll hurt her trying to reach the masses, proably?

Well i just bought the CD.. i wish it fit on one CD, coz double CDs cost about half times more than a single one...

I find theres alot of the slower jazzy stuff thats slightly reminiscent to Norah Jones, but i really enjoy her more unique stuff, like David, Sari, and Inner Peace...

More commentary as i take a more indepth listen :p)
