Yes always thought yamahas were awesome but I don't see one comparable to the onkyo 636 in that price range with similar power

The Yamaha Alright A740 or even the Marantz 1605. Both have the WiFi built in, good GUI. More importantly is the sound & video performance due to their built over the VSX-44.Elite models VSX-60 and up

If you are looking for good video performance (upscaling) at this price point (or even at a much higher price point), you will be disappointed. Let the TV handle the conversion. Also, don't judge by the GUI. How much time do you plan to spend looking at the settings???

The projector I have picked out is the Epson 3020 and that only 1080p anyway. Yea it's a good point on the settings. But don't you think GUI should somewhat keep up with the times. It's really a black screen with white selections . But I see your point.

Accessories4less.com is selling the onkyo 636 for 399.99 but it's refurb. It's 499 brand new. I guess for a 100 bucks more.

Or move up to the prior year 727. Or use the extra cash on a 3yr.

Wire is wire. In my main theatre, the speaker wire...

Center. Power cord from a coffee pot(or a hair dryer, don't remember)

Main, the cord from a vacuum cleaner that died.

Otherwise, 12 might be too big. Lowe's, Home Depot sell 14 and 16awg lamp cord in any color you want.

Hello Gurus, safe to buy this 35ft HDMI for my EPSON 3020? theres 22AWG and 24 AWG, guessing 22 is better?

Or do I really need to invest in a more expensive HDMI? link below:

Also have this fixed 110' screen picked out, would appreciate your comments on that. The room is in teh basement and can be kept pretty dark. The lights throughout the basement will have dimmers so safe to say the room wont be too bright. Link below:

Cables are not an investment. They are throw away. I ALWAYS recommend Vanco Installer Series.

Nothing wrong with that MonoPrice. I prefer how VIS are made.

I own the pioneer vsx-44 and I love it. I think it sounds fine. though its only 80W a channel the 140 is at 6ohm I believe. I run a pair of Polk tsi400 towers and a paradigm pdr-10 and I think they sound great for what my budget allowed me though I'd love to spend alot more lol. I think you will like the vsx-44 but many could argue that there's better out there. I owned a Onkyo before this and love it also it was alittle louder and more powerful. but I'd buy it again I got the vsx-44 at 300 sale also. not having the wi-fi only effects you if you listen to pandora or internet radio.

What did you buy at the end?
I have been making that question myself, I am between x3300 and the x2300 with the x2300 been friendly to my wallet
