I'm flying to my parents house for Christmas and will not take a carry on, due to not wanting to get it searched, so all I'm going to take on the plane is GBA in one pocket and a SW book in the other. Years ago I read the first two parts of the trilogy that was supposed to follow the original trilogy but I want something different this time. How are the Darth Maul or Boba Fett books? What else is good. Must be paper back and I would prefer a standalone story over one that required multiple books to be read.

I just read Kevin J. Anderson's 'Darksaber' recently...
it was pretty good... it is about the Hutts' building a reconstuction of the original Death Star.

The three Bounty Hunter Wars (Boba Fett) books are very good reading. However, they are a three-part series.
The Mandalorian Armor
Slave Ship
Hard Merchandise
Also I highly recommend the following titles which are stand-alone books and tell the tales of all the characters you saw but knew next to nothing about:
Tales Of The Bounty Hunters
Tales From The Mos Eisley Cantina
Tales From Jabba's Palace
Tales From The Empire
Tales From The New Republic
Enjoy and have a safe trip! :)
