I need some songs with good lines in reference to
phonographs or records or LP's or 45's ..etc

Just need to sample a few lines for a school project, thanks.

"18 with a bullet" by Pete Wingfield was definitely about records, tho I can't remember if it has the words you want in it.

Harry Chapin had a song about a radio DJ, think it was called WORL? I'd be surprised if it didn't mention records.

M.A.R.R.S "Pump up the volume" has that repeated sample about "put the needle on the record"

The Teresa Brewer song Music Music Music is about a Nickelodeon.

Olivia Newton John song Please Mr. Please is about a song on a jukebox.

Joan Jett's I love rock and roll is about playing the song on the "record machine".

The crappy Sheryl Crow single "Soak Up the Sun," has a line about '45's:

I'm gonna soak up the sun
Got my 45 on
So I can rock on

Dead or Alive - "You Spin Me Right 'Round (Like a Record)"
Actually it's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" No "right" in the title, but it is in the chorus of the song:

You spin me right round, baby
right round, like a record, baby
right round round round

(Sorry, huge DOA fan here.) :b

Don't know if it meets your exact criteria, but on the same DOA album, "Youthquake," there was another song called "DJ Hit That Button."

Van Halen - Jump

Oh can't you see me standing here,
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh can't you see what I mean?

Madonna - Music

Hey Mr. DJ put a record on I wanna dance with my baby
And when the music starts
I never wanna stop, it's gonna drive me crazy

"A Little Green Rosetta" by Frank Zappa, from "Joe's Garage Act III":

[spoken]
Now you see, some
places in the Third
World it might be
difficult to dance to
this because the
kerosene record player
is not a very efficient
device...And a lot of
times they run out of, uh...
they run out of spunk
right in the middle of
the chorus...Causing
the song to sound like
this...

[lurching, out-of-tune, winding down green rosetta]

However we continue
in spite of the fact that
the fuel may be low on
your record player. We
suggest that in places
in the Fourth World
where things are really
tough that you keep
the record player
going by rubbing two
sticks together. And if
all else fails... throw the
record away...build
your own green
rosetta...try this
recipe: We'll start with
a lump of grass...the
grass bone connected
to the ankle bone...the
knee bone connected
to the wishbone...and
then everybody moves
to New York and goes
to a party with
Warren. Hey!

Heh. Yeah, she's singing about records I guess ("rock on"), but every time I hear those lyrics I wonder if there's a double meaning, given the "soak up the sun" theme. She might also mean she has her SPF 45 sunblock on, so she can "soak up the sun" while minimizing the risk of skin cancer. :)

Harry Chapin had a song about a radio DJ, think it was called WORL?
The Harry Chapin song is W.O.L.D.
I will mention:
"45", by Elvis Costello:
Nine years later a child is born
There's a record, so you put it on
45
Nine years more, if we're lucky now
Nine-year-old puts his money down
45
Every scratch. every click, every heartbeat
Every breath that I held for you
45
There's a stack of shellac and vinyl
Which is yours now and which is mine?
45
"Surrender", by Cheap Trick:
When I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch.
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my Kiss records out.
"Another Record", by Genesis
It's funny you know,
'Cos there's an old rock 'n' roller
He's got nowhere to go.
Did you ever think of taking him in?
Somebody help him, somebody please.
Put another record on
'Cos he likes that song.
"Big Ten Inch Record", by Aerosmith
She just loved my Big Ten Inch
Record of her favorite blues
Jon
