Stalingrad is a totally seperate film from Enemy at the Gates

Which movie do you actually want?

...the two-disc French DVD of Jean-Jacques Annaud's Enemy At The Gates is indeed titled Stalingrad... it features seamless branching of the theatrical release and the Director's cut, as well as French and English DTS soundtracks, plus a lot of other stuff(ing)...

...not to be confused with Josef Vilsmaier's Stalingrad, which is indeed titled Stalingrad for both the German original and the French DVD release...

I'd recommend getting the UK version of EATG since it includes a full bitrate dts track whereas most of the other versions are half bitrate dts.

I buy region 2 discs from amazon.co.uk. at first sight their prices don't seem much cheaper than other sites, and the shipping certainly is not, but if you read their "help" section regarding sales tax (VAT), you'll find that the hefty tax of 17.5% is not charged, although it's included in the list price.

hence, for non-EU residents, the listed prices are about 15% higher than what you actually have to pay, making amazon.co.uk cheaper for big-ticket items like box sets.

in contrast, blackstar.co.uk is cheaper shipping-wise, but it doesn't take off the tax. likewise bensonworld, which offers "free" shipping worldwide, but its prices include VAT.

Any of those places should remove the VAT if you ask. Any Eurpoean company can ship orders outside Europe without the VAT being charged.

...erm... not "can" but "should/must"... and not just "outside Europe" but "outside the EU (European Union)"...

I had some correspondence with Blackstar on this issue. they seemed to take the view that, in effect, the tax element which you didn't have to pay would offset the shipping charge.

I raised the question, having bought something, and whined a bit about how it didn't seem fair paying tax when tax wasn't payable. their response was along the lines I've said, i.e. it sort-of pays for shipping, for which they charge a flat rate regardless of where you are, and also that it was too much trouble to take off the tax where appropriate.

hence, when buying a single disc, those charging low flat shipping are probably cheaper, e.g. Blackstar, but buying big ticket items like boxsets, amazon.co.uk is cheaper. just do the math first before deciding where to buy.

CD-WOW is a dirt cheap site to buy all kinds of region dvds from!
They chip worldwide and the chipping cost is inclueded in the prize of each DVD/CD.

What are the differences between the theatrical release and the directors cut?
