just to offer another angle, rather than the critics choice, one might want to check out the IMDB top rated list @ http://www.imdb.com/top_250_films although in general, what the audience likes/votes for run parallel to critical acclaim

one of the key advantages with the public's choices is the stories are generally more "accessible" and so, easier to understand for those learning to speak English
