Those of you on caf might know me, and now I'm over here

searching for your expertise because I'm about to start on

a building my own pair of speakers, and powered sub, as

well as suggestions on receivers,eq's etc......

For the speakers, I was looking at building a pair of

towers consisting of a 7" focal midbass/midrange, and a

morel tweeter, and of course a 2 way crossover inside the

box. I am willing to spend about 200 for the speakers, and

I'm going for complete sq. Any suggestions would be great.

For the sub, I'm going to get one of those 250 amps from

partsexpress, and I have a few ideas on what I want to

pair it with. Some drivers I have in mind are a CDT 10",

Focal polykevlar(again from parts express, or a DSQ(also

from parts express). Any suggestions for a powered sub

setup in that price range would be great. Again, complete

sq. Im a newbie to home audio, as all of my time is spent

caraudioforum.com.

thanks,
jeff

First I'd warn again trying to design your own 2way speaker. The crossover is what will make or break the speaker and requires a chunk of knowledge, some good measuring equipment and some experience. Take a stock 2way crossover and the results will be far from stellar.
You'll want to stick with a kit. Check out the DIY/Advanced section of this forum to get an idea of what kit will be right for you. The GR-Research AV1 should interest you. The AV1+ or Adire HE10.1 may interest you if you can stretch to around $300. These can be done for under $200:

Do some looking, lots of options.
For the sub look at the Dayton DVC or Titanic drivers. Adire's stuff (Shiva, Tempest) or Styrke Audio's stuff.

Thanks for the quick reply. That has helped me so much

already. I emailed Dan over at adire to see what he can

offer for my price range.
