...to replace my Toshiba SD-4800. It is still working but I am noticing anomolies that could mean impending doom. I have had it for about 5 years and it has been an awesome player. There are so many internet sites and none are very user friendly as far as customer reviews. I watch on a 51" Sony 16x9 rear projection HDTV.

Specs: I want coaxial audio (for DTS) & component video.

Budget: $200 or so

Please list makes and models that have worked for you or that have a great reputation of service. Also, where'd you get it?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a Sherwood-Newcastle SD860 in the for sale area that's not much more then your budget. Its a very solid player and essentially brand new.

I use Denon .. I'm not sure how good their DVD-1720 is but for $149 it may well suit your needs.

It has component & digital audio outputs, progressive scan and a 2meg buffer.

I've owned and used a fair amount of Denon equipment in the last 15 years and would reccomend at least having a look at one.
