We have a room that is 53 feet long and do not want to mount a projector in the middle of the room from our very high ceilings. We're planning on having a 75" x 100" screen (125" diagonal). Do any of you have suggestions for high-end projectors that we should consider for such a large projection distance? Unfortunately, the light in the room is not ideal so we'd also probably need a projector good deal of brightness or that allows different lenses to help.

Thanks so much for your advice.

you are going to have to look for commercial projectors. Runco makes some great units with extremely long throw distances and lots of light output.

We've had excellent luck with Christie Digital. Many of their units ship without a stock lens so you can get the exact lens / zoom range that you need. Granted, you're also going to be looking at a $15-50k range unit, but they'll also be 3-chip DLPs with 5-15k ANSI lumen output, and are, in general, very nice.

At work, we've had a variety of Christie projectors, and we've had excellent support from our retailer/installer, as well as Christie. We also tend to put hours on the units; 3500 hours/year is typical for us. They also take either RS-232 and/or RS-422 for integration with show-control systems, and are fairly easy for routine maintenance.

hi guys
I would take Leo's advice...I know nothing about the commerical market and only recommended Runco as I know that they do supply that market. $15-50K is also probably cheaper than the Runco and C.D. has a well respected name.

A little more detail: you need a projector with an approximate 6.3:1 lens. It's not uncommon; there is a fairly common ~4-7:1 zoom through most of the Christie line-up.
