Need opinions on surround speaker placement

Discussion in 'Archived Threads 2001-2004' started by Anthony DeCotis, Mar 25, 2002.

  1. I need to mount the rear surrounds in a 6.1 setup on the wall close to the ceiling. My problem is my seating position will only be about 2 feet from the wall. Should I point them directly at the couch or not. I am using Energy eXL15 for the surrounds. Thanx for the info.

I have a similar question, I have Energy e:XL-26's and C2 in the front and will be getting Energy e:XL-16's for surround (2 for now, a 3rd later(I hope)). Anyway, my side walls are out. How high should I put the speakers and what direction should I aim them? Mount them even with the front mains and about 6 or 7 ft up? and point straight towards my mains?

    What do ya think?

    Chris.

I have one surround that is also very close. I have it pointed almost straight back so the sound hits the back wall and bounces around. If I point it right at me it is distracting. It's about 2 feet above ear level and I wouldn't want it any lower.
