Need opinions on combo DVD/VCR Player (1 Viewer)

We're thinking of buying the in-laws a DVD Player and a VCR. Does anyone have any thoughts on one of the combo players that plays VHS and DVD?

The Philips at Walmart looks pretty nice. Also there is another one called "Govideo", but I like the Philips better.

Just by looking at them as I have not seen one in action.
