I just purchased a Vizio 47" LCD and I'm not really happy with the black levels on it. So since I've heard that there are 50" plasmas out there that are around the same price that I paid for the Vizio ($1649 at Costco) I was hoping to pick brains here and see what you have been impressed with in 50" Plasmas.

I've seen that Costco has a Philips Model 50PF9431D/37 for $1899 (I realize this is over $1800 but it's close), and CC has the Vizio P50HDTV10A for $1799 (which has a Faroudja processor), and at BB there's a Toshiba 50HP66 for $1799, but I don't have any experience with either set.

The only requirements that I can think of right now is that it must have a HDTV tuner built in. I don't want to have to purchase another box just to get OTA signals. And it be a local store. I would rather not have to ship anything if there's a problem.

Thanks

Hi Ricardo

The best reasonably priced 50" is the Panasonic TH-50PX60U...should be available for about $2100..I know this is more than you planned on spending but you should be able to keep it for 10 years...and it has as good a black level as anything you can find short of something like Runco that is twice the price...

Happy New Year

Your two best options are the 50" Panasonic or 50" Vizio. Seen both under $1900. Both reviewed very well. The Pany cabinet isn't all that attractive IMO, but the picture is really great. I almost bought the 42" model.
