Well, I sold my 4 year old sony Wega. Took $350 for it. Hope I did OK.

Now, in about 2 weeks, I'm moving into a new house. We're renting. My folks helped us look around, since we are 2500 miles away, so I haven't seen it in person yet.

But there is a big family room in the basement that the HT is going in. Don't know exact dimensions, but it's somewhere around 500 sq ft.

Initial budget is $700-$800, but maybe could stretch up to $1000 if I cut some corners on other furnishings.

What would you do? 75% cable viewing, 20% DVD, 5% Gamecube.

Well if you want to fight the crowds on black friday. Over in the Coupons and Bargains section they are talking about the deals, and one of them is for a RCA 52" Rear Projection HDTV - $1000. I know if I had a $1000 bucks HDTV would finally be mine.[IMG]

Well since you said basement HT, I would highly recommend an InFocus X1 at that price. I have mine in the basement, and the image it throws on my 72"w x 54"h, 90" diag 4:3 DIY screen looks awesome. Also there is no big box taking up floor space or messing up the sound stage thrown by my speakers. I do have windows, but the picture is not at all bad with some light coming in. I would not recommend placement in a room with a large southern facing picture window though [IMG]
