I would recommend

Bruce Almighty- only one sexual type seen nothing shown, very good morals and values while extremely funny.

Actually the Matrix has many religious subtexts, especially Matrix Revelations, invite her back to see 2, and 3, seems the movies horrible ending would make better sense to someone intouch with religion.

I don't understand the original 1 to 2 year limitation. That seems arbitrary and unnecessary. There are literally THOUSANDS of films that a religious person would find inoffensive made in the last, oh, 70 years or so.

Did you want to pick films that are only 1 - 2 years old
so that it would most likely have 5.1 sound and a great
picture?

What is your primary goal, to show off your system or
provide entertainment that a very religious person would
enjoy?

I agree that there are many films that are "old" that can
serve as wonderful entertainment for the very religious.

One film that has a poor transfer and is in P&S format,
but one of the best films for a religious person is the 1981
"Chariots of Fire"!

If the film MUST be fantasy action, consider "Raiders
of the Lost Ark"?

How about the film "Apollo 13", good sound and picture
and a wholesome movie.

I thought my comments / questions was trying to get back
on topic?

It can be a question in general many times, what do you
show when you have guests over.

Do you want to show off your system with great sound and
picture or provide a movie that your guests will enjoy.

When friends come over, I only know of one guy who would
want to watch my 1927 Metropolis, so I don't pull it out
and show off what a restored B&W film can look like compared
to a print from a public domain release.

In the same regard, if "religious" friends come over
I don't pull out Requiem for a Dream.

Maybe it would be better stated if you asked the original
question as "What film would you show to someone who
could be easily offended?" and just skip the use of the word
"religious".

It never ceases to amaze me on this forum, how a thread that was started gets off into large debates that actually have nothing to do with the original post.
That is a valid point. However, if it bears noting that most of the posts to which you are referring are at least three months' old. This thread has been around awhile.

I may be wrong, but I would think that since this thread started way back in August that the person in question has probably already been over and watched something...

The question should be, which film ended up being screened...?

I'm going to recommend a film that I watch with our Alpha group here in Canada. I'm not sure how big a following it has in the US mainly because the studio is based out of Canada that's did the film.

It's called Left Behind, which stars Kirk Cameron. The film is about 'The Book of Revalations' the last book in the Bible and is also based off a series of novels written mostly by Tim LaHaye, Jerry B. Jenkins.

It's a modern tale of the Rapture and second coming.

Cheers.

I'd comment that many Christians have found Left behind to be extremely theologically unsound. I'll leave it there as I don't want to steer this into theology.

im also going to recommend straight story which has a great performance from richard farnsworth(he got robbed at the oscars),great style and story, and was directed by david lynch yet didn't come out weird(not that that's a bad thing). one of the better films of the 90s.
