Ive been doing a bit a researching on Meridian pre-pro's and there seem to be sooo many versions 568.1, 568.2, 568.5 ?, 568.2mm etc. and then there is the new G series and the older 561 series..

Can somebody give me a rundown of these pre-pros and maybe what they are missing and any other important information that may be usefull.

Do they all have eq's ?
    Do any have analog bypass?
    Do they all upsample ?
    Are they all 7.1 ?
What formats do they have ?

Lastly, If you were in the used market, which model/version would be the one to get ?

Sorry for the questions, But I do apreciate it as there seems to be a lack of information on htf about Meridian.

there are too many variations to consider... meridian pre/pros are almost a built to order thing. they have cards and can be modified to fit the user. you may want to narrow it down as to what YOU want first, then find something that fits that. you will go nuts doing it the other way around.

if you need any help, let me know, im a meridian dealer. its great stuff, some of the best.

    Robert,

    That's only true of 861vX.

G68 has 4 specific configurations, depending on outputs.
568.2 has two configurations (without and with (MM).

I answered most of these questions over at AVS anyway [IMG]

    Cheers,

    Robert,

I suggested 568.2 or 568.2MM at AVS. It's going to be the best overall solution / most up to date product and with the public beta DPL-IIx is also available for this processor. Given that 568.2/568.2MM are available in the used market for a song, IMO that's the way to go.

G68 is too new to the market, and 861vX is going to be outside the price range of all but a few, even used.

    Cheers,

    I have a question add to JT's:

Anyone know if any of them have individual crossovers?

    Dual differential DACs?

    Thanks! [IMG]

    Kevin:

Nope. Just "single" differential DACs of quite high quality (Analog Devices AD1852s I think.

I"d much rather a very well implemented single DAC solution than a dual DAC solution on a per channel basis. The difference between single and dual DACs is swamped by differences elsewhere.

    Cheers,

John- Thanks. Just that I have mental lists for all this stuff, and I try to keep those lists updated...
