I'm thinking of upgrading my entry-level Yamaha receiver. It works fine, but at higher volume levels the sound is a bit harsh. I'm basically looking for something with very clean sound, I'm not very interested in lots of other features.

I went to the home theater store here locally, and was interested in the following models:
Pioneer Elite VSX-36TX $999
Pioneer Elite VSX-41TX $599
Denon AVR-3802 $999

The salesman told me that the 36TX has Burr&Brown DACs whereas the other two do not. I've heard that these are very good DACs, but I don't know how much impact that has on the sound.

Can someone tell me the pro's and con's for these models, or suggest something else in the same price range?

How does an Outlaw 1050 compare to these? I've seen a lot of good reviews on this unit.
