For Night of the Living Dead: either the original Elite disc which has almost everything the Laserdisc has or the millenium edition which has even more stuff.

All other versions are public domain rip-off's. I wasn't aware of an Anchor Bay version.

If your friend is multi-region capable, you might get the R2 Dog Soldiers. It has two commentary tracks plus other extras not on the R1 release.

Last night I revisited the original Final Destination which, while being a creepy and entertaining thriller, also has an interesting featurette on the test screening process (the filmmakers changed the ending of FD based on testing) which includes interviews with the writers, producers, director, and studio head.

Agree about Session 9. Very creepy and well made, with some cool extras.

Ringu (the orig. japanese version of The Ring). Creepiest movie I've seen in a while, though other than some unrelated trailers, completely extras free.

It has newly shot scenes (which are hysterically- awful) and a crummy new music score as well. Don't even think about getting another version than Elite's older release or the "millenium edition." Terrific transfers and superb extras.

That's good to know. Man, this board is a great resource!
