I'm trying to put together a list of the Fox Collector's Edition dvds (not to be confused with the Fox Studio Classics), and I'm having a devil of a time finding a list of them anywhere. Anyone know where a list might be (I tried searching the HTF and came up empty). I would like a list of the titles and the collection numbers. These are the only ones I know for sure:

    2. Cast Away
    15. The Commitments

I know that the Alien discs and the new Planet of the Apes release are part of this series, but I don't know what numbers they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I will try to update this list as I find out more.

    Thanks!

    1. The Abyss
    3. Independence Day
    4. Planet of the Apes (remake)
    7. Die Hard
    10. Alien
    11. Aliens
    12. Alien 3
    13. Alien Resurrection
    14. Planet of the Apes (original)

I would assume Die Hard 2 and 3 are #8 and #9, but I'm not sure. The Sound of Music is either #5 or #6, not sure what the other one is.

Isn't Fight Club one of these now?

I belive Fox is re-issuing all their previous "Five Star Collection" DVDs as part of their 'Numbered Collector's Edition' DVDs. Some of those have already been mentioned:

    The Abyss
    Independence Day
    The Sound of Music
    Die Hard

    Some others would be:

    Cleopatra
    M*A*S*H
    French Connection
    Speed

After doing some research here's the list I come up with...

    1 The Abyss
    2 Cast Away
    3 Independence Day
4 Planet of the Apes (2001)
    5 The Sound of Music
    6 Moulin Rouge
    7 Die Hard
    8
    9 Fight Club
    10 Alien
    11 Aliens
    12 Alien3
    13 Alien: Resurrection
14 Planet of the Apes (1968)
    15 The Commitments

The only one I'm not sure on is #8, which is either Speed or The French Connection.

I have all but 2 of them, and I only have 3 that are numbered.

the ones with the numbers on the spine are re-issues.
if you dont have a number on the spine it is the first release.
and the new ones come in the cardboard packages, like the first fight club.

Moulin Rouge and Fight Club haven't been repressed with numbers on the spine, so they're not part of the list (yet). Die Hard 2 & 3 were the two numbers following Die Hard as well. Hope this helps. [IMG]

Thanks for tracking these down for me.

Now I see why it was so hard to find this list--it sounds like Fox is making this up as they go, as opposed to their Studio Classics line which seems to have been more thought out.

After recently buying Cast Away and The Commitments I thought I would look into more of the Collector's Edition series, but I'm not going to rebuy titles I own just to get the numbers on the spines.

Rafael - as I stated in post #4, Fight Club most certainly is #9 and the re-issuse definitely has a #9 on the spine. I'm looking at the case as I type this.

So I take it PREDATOR will be #16? Because #15 was The Commitments...

Hey, sorry to dig up an old thread, but I've been stuck in the real world for awhile... Anyway, I've gone from good times (bought a lot of DVDs) to bad times (sold almost all of those DVDs) and am now back to decent times (rebuilding my collection). I'd like to replace many of the titles I've had before and enjoyed, such The Abyss SE and Independence Day 5-star version, which are now of course OOP. But there are these new numbered editions. Let's assume for a moment that I could buy either version (the older version on eBay or at local used-DVD sources). Other than the repackaging, are there any differences between the old and new versions of these numbered titles? If there is any difference, which one is "better", or more perferable to own?

I'm specifically looking to replace The Abyss, Cast Away (actually already have the new numbered version, am willing to replace for the older one if the older is better), Independence Day, Planet of the Apes (2001) (have new one--same note as for Cast Away), The Sound of Music, Moulin Rouge, and Fight Club.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks! [IMG]

My "Moulin Rouge" that I bought a few months ago from Target most definitely has a #6 on it...

I wish these Fox special editions weren't so difficult to find. My local Target only carries "Moulin Rouge," and my local Best Buy only carries "Cast Away." (I was hoping to buy "Fight Club" and "Die Hard" at Best Buy for $13.) I realize Amazon has some of them (but not "Fight Club,") but I try to order online as little as possible (though I guess I may end up doing it if I can't find them anywhere else.) Is there any chance of Fox re-releasing all of these and making them more available?

The entire series seems rather badly planned to me.

Has Cleopatra been altered in any way at all? If so, what what part of the art was changed?
