Room size is 19'x22'x12'high (5016 cf). It is actually bigger than this, but the kitchen has a bar and cabinets act as a partial partition.

    Current configuration:
Denon AVR1000 (10 yr old Denon I will replace with a NAD 752 in the near future).
    Floorspeakers
    Boston Acoustic T830
    Center Channel
    Boston Acoustic VR12
    Surround
    Boston Acoustic CR65

I am leaning towards the SVC or the HSU. I would like to know what sub you guys would recommend for my system.

    Thanks
    Don

call Brian at www.rutledgeaudiodesign.com and talk to him. He should be able to custom build you a sub for your budget and specs that will at least be competitive with the SVS or Hsu, and may even beat it.

Brian is a great guy to boot.

Check out the latest sub shootout in the current issue of "sound & Vision". For a budget system it's hard to beat the Velodyne CHT-15 at $599. When looking at the output comparison graphs the Velo is on a 120db graph while the others are 110.

Depends on your budget. AT $300, there is the new Rocket ELT sub. At $400, the Adire Rava is very good.

$500–$700 puts you in the less expensive SVS, Hsu and Rocket UFW-10 range. A lot of fine choices.

$800 up you can find some very fine subs from Hsu and SVS.

I think that the Internet companies are very hard to beat for subs. I have no opinion on the guys who do custom work, but they do seem to have a lot of fans.

That's a big room Don..I'd seriously take a look at the pb2 from SVS...What is your budget? If its in the 1200 area, I'd give it a whirl. (HT would do some good rockin!)

I second Velodyne and SVS. With a room that size your going to need a powerful sub to get the job done.

Get data and specs from everyone you can !!
Send an email to Tom V at SVS. They are always fair and complete in their info.....and thier subs are just great.

    Thanks for the replies!

    Budget is $500 to $1000

I would be open to "B" stock, refurbished, or used.

Also, what is the difference in sound between the cylinder vs box subs with HSU and SVC?

    Thanks

    Don
