Jesse and Mark, I thought it might be easier if I copied exactly what comes up when typing in the ipconfig/all. Now, right now I am physically in my company so this might not be correct because I am not using the router right now. I am connected to the network. Let me know if I have to type this while using the router. Anyway, here are the addresses that came up. Thanks so much for helping out. This is such a long process and I can't believe it is this problematic.

Mark and Jesse,

Here is what came up when I did it from home connected to the router. There are a couple starting with 192. Which one goes into the DMZ?

Jesse,

I have to believe that if I have the same setup as you do at your work, I should be able to do this. Anyway, I'm now past the 30 day grace period I had to return this thing. :frowning: I guess I'm still holding out hope.

Hey Tommy,

I keep forgetting to check on this thread. This is the IP you need to put in the DMZ:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Instant Wireless Network PC Card V3.
0
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-06-25-10-3E-A9
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 24.48.30.2

Go ahead and send me an email if you have anymore questions (so I don't forget about you here). [email protected]

Jesse, thanks for the response. I'm actually working out of my office office in New Jersey so I'll have to wait until Friday to try it out. Thanks for your help so far. :emoji_thumbsup:

Jesse,

This is all that I have room for on the DMZ Host page.

DMZ Host
IP Address: 192.168.1.100

There is obviously not enough room for all the information you posted above. I'll also send you an e-mail.

DMZ is an address that allows full access to/from the laptop, which kind of bypasses the firewall in the router, right?

A better approach would be to figure out what ports and protocols the VPN needs to talk through the router and then set up firewall rules in the router to permit traffic on those ports.

Surely your IT department should be able to provide you with that information; if not, they should probably consider career changes... ;)

Kimmo, it's funny you should mention my IT department and career changes. I was told by linksys CS that I would need to open the ports for extranet and would need those port numbers. Well, when I brought this to IT this was the look I received from them  . Then I was told that they weren't allowed to give that information out. Now I am  as well. Anyway, if you know of the correct way to phrase it to them so that I can get this information, it would be very much appreciated. :)

Sounds odd.

Perhaps you should try to explain what you are trying to do and ask them to help you get it working. That is after all part of why they get their paychecks, helping the users do their work.

OK, I was finally told by IT to open port 500. I tried that and it still is not connecting to extranet. This is extremely frustrating. Does anyone have any more ideas on this. I was also told that I should first find the IPSec passthrough on the router setup webpage  which I couldn't find. I was supposed to enable that when I found it. If that didn't work, I was told to enable port forwarding for port 500 and point it to the IP address that the laptop leases from the router. I guess I don't know enough about this stuff. Any help would be very welcomed and appreciated.
