Just got a new TV today with component input. Anyway, I set it up and hooked up my monster component cables to my TV and DVD and popped in a disc. The video looks great, but I'm not getting any sound. I think I know what the problem might be but I wanted to check here so I don't accidently fry something on my set.
Since I've never used component before, I always assumed that the component cables handled both the video and audio like A/V cables. So to fix my problem, do I have to hook up A/V cables to my DVD player as well?
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I just started learning about all this stuff 3 weeks ago

Yes, you need to hook up audio cables as well. The component video hook up is 3 cables, plus 2 cables for the audio, for a total of 5 cables.
