I am going to build a wall in my already finished basement in order make a totally closed in room. Three walls already exist, so all I have to do is put up one wall which will be 17' in length to make a HT room. I have a contractor coming over WED to discuss exactly what I want to do. He suggested wood studs first of all and from there he wants my input. What do I use for materials and do from here? I also need to decide on either a pocket door or a solid hinged door. My goal is obiviously to get the best sound possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you'd get alot of vibration with a pocket door.

Steel studs (depending on $$$ in your area, will not warp or absorb basement humidity).

I agree on the pocket door comment.
