When I was a kid I remember going to a saturday Matinee probably sometime around 1966 and seeing a color pirate movie that showed one scene that stuck in my head of several pirates pulling a rowboat through a dark swamp in knee deep water (The colors were very vivid and the water had an eerie bluish purple tint). I believe that later in the same movie some pirates were buried in the sand up to the neck and succumbed to the tide as it rose. One of my friends believed the movie was "Captain Blood" but I think it was "Blackbeard the Pirate". Does anyone know? Are both of us wrong?

Well, Mark, I can't identify the film but I can narrow down the possibilities for you: CAPTAIN BLOOD was most definitely NOT in color. Haven't seen BLACKBEARD.

Sounds like it could be one of Hammer Studio's pirate pictures, either:
PIRATES OF BLOOD RIVER (1962) IMDB listing
    or
    DEVIL-SHIP PIRATES (1964) IMDB listing
