    hi folks,

can anyone tell me the names of any female singers who recorded "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)". you know....."oh me oh my oh, son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou". a hank williams sr. tune i believe. i did find a version sung by lucinda williams but i'm not sure its her version i'm looking for. also i seem to remember it as one of the songs played through the closing credits from a movie about the life of governor long of louisiana. for the life of me, i cant remember the name of this movie. any buffs out there know who recorded this version? thanks.

    regards,

    jeff

edit: this may help....gov. long was played by paul newman

My guess is the Linda Ronstadt version that can be found of the greatest hits vol. 2 CD.

Karen Carpenter sang a version of that song. Maybe that's the version you're looking for.

The original hit, I believe, was by Brenda Lee.
