Can anyone suggest a good DVD recorder that has these options.

Record on both DVD-R and DVD+R
&
80g or 120g built in hard drive

there has got to be one out there, but I can't seem to find one.

If there isn/t one that can do both + and - is there a recorder that can do DVD+R and has the hard drive?

Thanks!

..and there are none that record BOTH +R and -R.

If you want one, you're gonna have to choose what's available now or wait a long time until maybe there is a machine that fits your needs.

Good luck!

No offense, but why would it be important to you to be able to record on - and +? Even with my computer drives that can handle both I like staying with one inventory of media.

There's one Sony recorder that takes both formats, but from what I've heard it cripples a lot of the flexibility you get with the + formats. I don't feel like supporting Sony anyway due to the backwards thinking of their home video department.

The Sony records to -R single use discs, and +RW rewritable discs.

There are machines already on the market that record in both + and -, so no need to wait.

The new (just released) Sony model records in DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R AND DVD+RW.

Lite-On also has models on the market that record on both platforms.

More are coming, and yes, these are set top VCR replacement units.
