First of all I would like to thank and congratulate all of you who keep this forum up and going, and contributed to significantly narrow down my choice for a new A/V receiver.

I will be using my system:

    - 30% for listening to mp3's from my PC (soundcard's SPDIF or analog out)

    - 20% for gaming (Unreal, Empire Earth, ...)

    - 20% for listening to CD's (external CD player optical link)

    - 20% for listening to TV programs and movies and FM radio

    - 10% for listening to DVD's (bedroom PC DVD-drive and living-room DVD player)

    I narrowed my choice to:

    - Denon AVR-1802

    - Onkyo TX-DS595

    - any other good sugestions worth taking into consideration

I still haven't tested any one of them but I would like to appeal to those who did.

Since the price for the two models is not an issue, wich one would be the most apropriate?

Well, I've got an 1802, and I play mp3's from my pc through an optical connection. For me, the 1802 is a great fit because I live in an apartment and can't really crank it too loud. One thing you may want to consider, is that the 1802 only has ONE digital coax-in, and 3 optical-in, so if you decide to upgrade your dvd to something non-pc, know you may be connection limited. Otherwise, I don't have a single complaint. I got mine online for about $330/plus shipping, I think. Good luck!

Between those two, I'd go with the 1802.
