Looking for a good surround sound system for my computer for
    around $150 or so.

    Opinions? Let me hear 'em.

I'd say save up a bit and get the Logitech Z-680's. They're quite a bit more expensive, but I think the quality jump will be well worth it. [IMG]

The Swan Diva M-200's come highly recommended. $200 street price if you can find a place that sells em.

Review I'd get these if I didn't have an HTPC.

    Thanks for the info guys,

Finding a place that sells the better speakers locally is a problem. I live in the Bay area, you'd think it'd be easy.
The klipsch 4.1 are available at circuit city for $189.
    I may go that way.

big thanks to carl for this excellant link:

Though you may have problems locally, you can always go online to get your stuff, often without having to pay shipping. Gotta love the digital age. [IMG]

If you don't want to run out to Circuit City, you can get the speakers on Amazon. The Amazon site also lets you check Circuit City store availability by zip code, so you can order online and pick it up in the store. [IMG]

    Thanks Brian-

Online is an option, just don't get that immediate "I'm taking these babies home now" feeling. But ultimately if I can't find what I want that's the way I'll go.

I fixed the link to nowhere, check out the reviews at that site.

Miles: The particular item you were looking at (the Klipsch 4.1s) is actually offered by Circuit City THROUGH Amazon, so in this instance, you can get the "I'm taking these babies home now" feeling by ordering online and picking up in the store (if it's available). The page lets you type in your Zip Code to find local stores, and reserve a copy before having to endlessly trek around the Bay Area to find a store with it in stock.

I just checked online by entering a random SF Zip code, and it looks like more than a few stores over there have it in stock. A couple of stores in San Jose seem to have it, as do some in cities I can't recognize. If you're sure that you want those speakers, the order online/pick up in-store method seems like the easiest way to procure them. [IMG]
