I don't have a DV camcorder yet, and probably won't for a while, but I want a unit that can support that in the future. For now, I want to capture from VCR/Laserdisc/analog camcorder.

I want the ability to edit, and eventually put out on DVD. I have a DVD+RW on my Dell, and SonicMyDVD (the version that came with the PC).

I like the idea of an external device - I have USB 2.0 - is there any downside to this?

Part of me also wants to use Adobe Premier, but that might be too pricey for me. Would I be perfectly happy with a Pinnacle product?

I considered the Studio 9 AV/DV USB. I'm not even sure thats out yet, actually. Any other ideas?

I had indeed read those threads. Forgive me for clogging the board with repetitive questions, but they didn't seem to address my precise needs. I will look elsewhere.
