i currently have the ff:

pioneer elite vsx 07tx - dd only , no dts , no 5.1 inputs
definitive tech BP 2004 , C1 center , BP2X surround.
sony dvp ns755 sacd/dvd.

i currently live in an apartment but will soon be building a home and ill have a hometheater room probably a 20 x 14 feet room.

i want to get a new receiver and put the pioneer in the bedroom.

i got $600-$700 to spend including shipping and taxes.
my first choice would be to get a used yamaha DSP A1.
another would be to get a brand new HK avr 525.

i use my system 65% music , 35% movies.

the yamaha had great reviews and and is one of the best of its time , but as you know this was 3-4 years ago and new features came out .

the HK avr 525 ive heard has really good sound quality for music but the drawback is the reports of quality control with a lot of problems with the units and it has less power.

i am wondering with my current set up - which one would be an "UPGRADE" as to quality of sound as to music and movies?

would the HK avr 525's power which is a tad lower matter?

also another question is the new receivers feature the 6.1 channels now and a few dvd's are out in this format .

if i only have and keep 5 speakers and the sub (5.1) - would it still be compatible to use dd or dts formats only and not go to the 6.1 format even if the softwares only carry the 6.1?

or are the softwares available at 6.1 are also compatible to do 5.1?

kinda confusing guys - sorry but i hope you get to answer my questions..

tnx.

or ....is the HK avr 7200 worth waiting for ?
if it is really good and fall around $900 - i might be able to save aup a litle before it comes out.

hope HK cleans its act by making its units reliable .
