Hi, I'm trying to connect one optical audio source to a pair of bookshelf speakers. I know a receiver would do it, but I would prefer to get the smallest device possible. Is there any kind of non-receiver that would accomplish this? If not, what is the smallest/thinnest receiver that anyone can recommend?
Thank you in advance!

Convert it to analog - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=230-120
Run the analog signal through a small amp - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-380
There are a dozen other options at PE and probably hundreds across the web. This is what I came up with in about 10 seconds of searching.
